Music to the Ears – Valerie Von Fange
Valerie Von Fange, a rising singer/song-writer based out of Front Royal has just released her second CD, entitled Steadfast Love. Originally from California, she has been performing as a soloist and in musical groups for over 24 years. You may have heard her at some of our Main Street attractions including Fretwells, Daily Grind and the Festival of Leaves. Her unique style of keyboarding allows her to play tunes from the ‘20s to present, capturing styles such as country, classic rock, oldies and inspirational.
Valerie’s formal musical development began at age twelve when she started taking classical piano. In 1993, she released Thy Kingdom Come, an original project inspired by a religious pilgrimage to Bosnia. In July 2005, she released Steadfast Love, which was recorded in Nashville, TN and offers an eclectic mix of bluegrass, country, Latin, Celtic, and folk selections. Her music combines her classical training with a contemporary sound.
Today Valerie enjoys performing at church concerts/services, wineries, restaurants, and festivals. She also entertains at senior living facilities such as Lynn Care, The Southerlands and Royal Haven on a frequent basis.
When asked if she would continue to play locally, she said, “Yes, the audiences and vendors in the Shenandoah Valley are very receptive.” She offered a resounding, “No,” when asked if she would think of moving to Los Angeles or New York to further her career.
This year Valerie will be performing at the Festival of Leaves (October 8 th) and at a Benefit Costume Ball held at The Rivendell Sports Club (October 28 th). (See our Calendar of Events on pgs 14-15 for more information.)
